Reviewing health insurance plans in SA today. I really hate this time of year as I renew both health and commercial. Not only do costs go up but I always wonder why I agree to participate in employee portion. We have as good of a health plan as anyone. And the employee pays $75 a month. I think that's good but I don't think it's appreciated. And although costs have gone up every year, I haven't passed on any increase in 6 years.

When you do your employee reviews and give them any increase you need to give them a sheet that shows the total cost of benefits that's a receiving as well so they can see the total amount of their compensation. That may not really help them appreciate it but at least you feel better that you told them what the true cost of hiring them is

It does

I've done that for several years and it's been interesting. Managers understand and I think appreciate the benefits. But hourly don't seem to care.

I am always asked if I'll drop their insurance and give them that amount in pay. I asked a warehouse man once what he would do, how he would afford, a health issue. His response, "I'll go to the doctor / hospital if I need to. Someone will pay for it."

I have had a couple of those change their opinion and appreciate things -- after their hospital is covered.

Bloodwork confirms I have a gluten allergy. Sucks because I love gluten products, but it's also sort of a blessing as now all of the weird, sucky symptoms I've been having for a while now make sense.

It is as yet undetermined if I am playing on not. There is a question as to who all is going for sure. We actually qualified two teams. Spouse is for sure playing.

I may also be "free" from 11 am to 3 pm

That sucks but at least you have plenty of good eating options at home and while you're out. Even beer!
