A bottle (sometimes two) of mag citrate is what they have people drink the evening before surgery the next day (for intestinal surgeries, at least). It produces the same effect as that gallon of stuff you drink before a colonoscopy. In fact, it would be WAY cheaper to just drink to bottles of mag citrate than to have to buy that gallon of Half-Lytely they use for 'scoping prep.

It was .98 at WalMart compared to the other stuff that was way more expensive. I don't understand about the surgical prep stuff, I've been going for close to 12 hours now, at some point I have to stop going right? I had to call in sick today, I took maybe a 1 hour nap and that's been it.

Umm, yeah, you will stop at some point. Just stay hydrated. Water, Gatorade, juice....something. Not caffeine.

You know those commercials that say stuff like "it doesn't help you go, it helps you go more gently" or whatever they say? Yeah, you want that stuff.

Dulcolax, Ex-Lax, whatever other stuff they have. I don't know. There used to be a song: "Doxidan, gentle Doxidan....take it with no surprises, feel better soon as the sun rises" or something like that.

Mag Citrate is to be used sparingly. You probably needed a couple of tablespoons and would have been fine. A whole bottle? I hope your phone is charged. You are going to need something to read.

That being said, you should be done soon. It's been over 12 hours. I would guess that by 4pm you should be done, but everybody is different.

A female friend of mine was having digestive issues. Her doc scheduled her for a colonoscopy and prescribed the gallon of "go juice" that you have to drink to prep. She called me to ask about what to expect since I know the routine too well.

She started drinking it around 4pm. She texted me about 6:30pm and said "This is bull****. Nothing is happening. Totally bogus and a waste of money. I don't feel anything happening."

I texted her back and said "Don't leave the house, don't even stray far from the bathroom, when it happens, it will be fierce."

She texts back "Yeah, whatever. I am about to give up on this whole idea."

Probably 15 minutes later she texts back: OH MY GOD!!!! WTF is this stuff!!!!!

Got random texts until about 11pm.

Her appointment was for noon the next day. At 10:30am she texts and says "When am I going to stop producing? I just keep going and going! I need to get ready to head to the GI clinic!"

Thankfully, she stopped just before she had to leave.

That stuff isn't to be taken lightly.

My girlfriend (now wife) had a clog up and I told her to drink a bottle of mag. She's never let me hear the end of it. She was going for 24 hours.

I'd had to drink a couple of bottles of mag along with the go-lytely for my colon scopes......I knew it'd work and it did, but she was not happy with me.
