The character Seven of Nine was played by Jeri Ryan who was married at the time to Illinois Republican Senate hopeful, Jack Ryan.

During the 2004 senatorial campaign, nasty details about the Ryan's pending divorce became public, prompting Jack Ryan to drop out of the race.

Barack Obama was elected to the Senate seat, and the rest, as they say, is history.

There is an episode in Season 1 of the original Trek series, I think it is called "What Girls Are Made Of" where they find a guy that makes androids and he made a female companion android that was maybe the hottest original series chick.

We have been watching the old series on Netflix. We alternate between that and BSG reboot every week.
