My wife and I have a good friend who is going through a difficult time and acting somewhat self-destructive. He swears to me he's going to hire an escort off of Backpage.com (San Antonio) and get laid this weekend.

I have no idea about the legality or safety of those ads. I know "escorting" is legal, but I know he would have no idea if he was contacting a cop who intentionally posted an ad with slightly illegal language or something. I'm concerned he's going to end up getting arrested or catching some disease, or any number of other things you could think of.

I don't really know what to tell him, other than not to do it, but if anyone knows about this please share. Seems really shady to me.

He should be fine. Just tell him to be more discreet about his whoring in the future. And tell him to check out VIP Spa.

It's just a good, clean, safe place in his area. I thought if you were seriously worried about his welfare you might want to offer him useful advice. It beats meeting a random possible hooker off of backpage.

The problem is, in theory that's fine, but at what point does the language in an online ad for an "escort" become so sexually suggestive that you can be arrested for following up on it?

It's only illegal to pay specifically for sex

He'd just be paying to spend time with a "companion," and if they end up having sex then so be it

Most of the backpage girls are nasty. Make sure to recommend a better site, use google. Also tell him tomake sure it's outcall. Incall could be a trap.

If this guy figures out he can get laid for <$200 anytime he wants he will either (depending on his current marital status):

1) Get a divorce pronto
2) Never get married

Skip the backpage and go to a strip club this weekend. It's the end of the month, and the girls will be looking to make some after hours cash.

Stay away from Backpage unless the girl claims to be well reviewed. If well reviewed go to ECCIE.Net and do a search on her 'name' and see if she pops up. But honestly he is better off skipping backpage altogether and searching ECCIE.net for Newbie Friendly Providers. They will likely do a quick screening session to make sure he's legit and not a cop. But generally these are the older, fatter variety of escort. Unfortunately the better looking ones usually require at least 2-3 references from other providers. Most the girls there advertise strictly on Eccie, but occasionally they will place an ad on backpage as well. If you find one on Eccie advertising on Backpage too, they are more likely to make an exception on the provider references.

Or if he wants to drop $129 right off the bat, he can sign up at p411.com and let them screen him. Some providers will waive their screening process and reference requirements for members. Not all mind you, but some.

Send him to Vegas. Just got back last weekend. Saw several of these. Looked very reputable. And if these girls are too pricey there's always the illegals snapping the little hooker business cards and magazines at you walking up and down the strip.

Ha! My November trip to Las Vegas one of my best friends ended up with a Hooker by accident. He just thought the chick was digging him and he was going to get lucky. Until he got her to his room and she broke out the cost.
