I know tipping is a bad subject around TexAgs, but I'm curious what the general opinion on tipping for vehicle inspection is.

The Quicker Sticker place I used to go to had a sign basically asking for tips, saying the state had not increased the inspection fee in X number of years and they worked for very low pay. At the time, I was driving a beater that probably should not have passed, so I was glad to tip to show appreciation when I did get passed.

Now, I drive a new car...zero chance of it failing inspection ever. Am I still expected to tip?

Those places rip you off for everything else and then whine when something costs $20-45 for something that is mostly a computer doing the work for 20 min?

the only time you throw the guy some extra scratch is if you have something that wont pass the inspection.

Can someone suggest a better place in College Station to get inspected where I won't be smacked in the face with signs demanding tips?

I've tipped a buck or two IF the guys seem to enjoy their bottom-rung work. Has nothing to do with the type of work. I've seen enough ****ty people with a ****ty attitude toward their ****ty (or not-so-****ty) job that to see something different is nice.

I did on my old jeep so the guy would pass it for me. The brakes were a little iffy and needed a bit of pumping.

I tipped at Quicker Sticker.

They don't make squat. He replaced a license plate bulb for me and checked a couple of things under the hood he didn't have to check.

I'm not a $30,000 millionaire and I'm also not a lolpoor. It was a December inspection, and I'm alive and mostly well. I tipped him and told him to have a good Christmas. I think I tipped $4, which was all the cash I had on me.

there is NO WAY I would tip for an inspection (unless there was something I needed "help" on, as others have said).

Hell I was at Shammy getting oil change/car wash on a lunch break and those *******s locked my keys in my truck. I didn't tip them, either.

When they pass me, I tip.

The 5-10$ I tip is far less then getting the bs fixed.

I also tip the autozone guy, costco person who helps the guy scan my stuff and the grocery store self checkout computer.

I tip the driver next to me on 635 in Dallas that decides not to cut me off in traffic.
