They are not all connected and not the same, but it is basically day-care with a little more attempt to educate than just play all day.

self-paced learning beginning very early and some is without boundaries...if a 5yo wants to build something lessons are created for that child

In the late 1950s it was a "big" thing in Houston to be a Montessori style school. Instead of making children sit in desks and spend 20 minutes on XX if the kids were interested in some topic it could continue. Children sat on carpet or were allowed to lie down to read instead of sitting in hard wooden desks or chairs. The entire school environment was made learning friendly. One concept was multi-age classrooms which wasn't new at all, if you had lived in a small community.

Young children were considered sponges to soak up and absorb all learning so everything was a teaching/learning opportunity. LOTS of great ideas, some fruity ideas but the general premise is allowing kids to learn and succeed in best possible ways. Schools generally attracted babies/younger kids but some Montessori HS exist.

Be sure that it's a certified Montessori school with properly trained teachers. There are "Montessori style" schools out there that offer varying degrees of quality in the services they deliver. At its best, Montessori education offers children a chance to grow intellectually by leaps and bounds.

I'll attest to it hard. Nervy is very awkward. But that's the way she has chosen to play the game and I, for one, appreciate it. Thank goodness it won't last long.

It's a thing, and it works.

Formerly shortymontessori here. I never admitted o this but I actually hate the Montessori method. However my kids have brainwashed me so much that I don't really enjoy teaching neurotypical kids either. :-)

My advice to anyone with a preschooler- just let them freakin play.
