what i heard that sergebutt came from the material on the juniors uniform that coincidentaly was on their butt.

I heard Zip came from the stripe the on the senior bider. It looks like a zipper.

Not sure if all that is true. Just stories that I heard.

^Also heard that.

not sure about PH...heard something about fish pissing on sophomores' heads once.

Also, terms like bullneck (meat) go way back...We visited a retirement home my fish year back in '04 and some Ol Ag, c/o 1920 something told me to cut his bullneck for him.

I heard that PH was because the butts peed from stack onto the sophomores.

This. And little fish in a big pond. I have heard that pisshead was nothing more than something derogatory aimed at those who made the lives of fish hell.

I don't know who came up with that Bonfire stack explanation. That story must be a recent invention from the post-collapse Bonfire revisionist history that continues to grow, because I never heard that. Pisshead predates a stacked Bonfire by decades.

Serge is the more forgiving, lower-maintenance material used in uniforms that were at one time a junior privilege. Blackbelts were constantly having to iron their pants because they wrinkled so easily.

Zip (short for "zipper head") is, indeed, a reference to the officer's braid that looks like a zipper.

I don't either, and it doesn't have anything to do with sophomores peeing on fish. Sickos.

I'm '96 and I heard it, but it's still ridiculous.

Yep. It comes from "wethead," as in a newborn. Apparently someone decided that wasn't vulgar enough.

Yep. Also, contrary to popular belief, it has nothing to do with the "surge" of the scalloped yokes on the uniforms. Serge is a type of fabric. Juniors and seniors could wear serge. Fish and sophomores had to wear khaki.

True, although I never once heard "zipper head."
