Went down an' around an' around an' down,
An' we run out o' groun' at the edge of town.
Bashed on into the side of a feed store,
In downtown Pagosa Springs.

Wolf Crick Pass, way up on the Great Divide.
Truckin' on down the other side.

Used to live in Pagosa. Either way will get you there with plenty of scenery. If weather isn't a concern, Amarillo-Raton-Walsenburg-Wolf Creek Pass is a great drive. So is Pagosa-Chama-Santa Fe-Clines Corners. C.W. Mcall is greatness!
Nothing like being in Pagosa when that song was originally on the radio.
