FWIW she's a natural brunette,penciled in her eyebrows, over drew her lips, and wore false eyelashes.

Outside of that yes I agree. she is gorgeous and an Icon. Without makeup she was still very attractive but not what she looked like with her additions. Most of us dont.

good point......some folks, uncomfortable in their own skin, dress it up to be acceptable, or, what they think will make themselves more acceptable, for whatever reason.....

I prefer natural

There is nothing wrong with a little make up. Make for some women is no different than a man shaving or ironing his clothes.

Sometimes make-up can be used to accentuate a person's aesthetic strengths. Marilyn's were her bedroom eyes and beautiful smile. She brought attention to that by drawing her lips a little fuller, darkening her eyebrows and wearing false eyelashes.

There are women that wear make up to make themselves look completely different but there are those that just want to emphasize what they have.

The "natural" Marilyn was also quite attractive.

If you'll notice while she was voluptuous she wasn't as big as some of of the plus size women advocates claim.

She just has good genetics.

& GASP!!! Marilyn wasn't a size 2!! Was about a size 8-10.

When my son was three we were at a diner that had all old timey stuff and they had a mannequin of her posed like in the blowing up the dress scene. He walked over in front of everyone and looked up under her dress and says "what's that?"

I enjoy all her comedy movies but wasn't really sold on her acting until 'The Misfits' with Gable.

It's odd, imo, that there are two Monroe movies coming out soon.

also, on an unrelated note, On the Waterfront and Bonnie and Clyde are on TCM tonight. Lots of good movies to be watched, starting at 5PM with Miss Monroe's film

Lots of great films all month long. On the Waterfront is one of my favorite all-time movies which was loosely based on a true story. Brando, Karl Malden, Eva Marie Saint, Lee J. Cobb, & Rod Steiger all put in wonderful performances.
