If someone has to cancel a date with you for whatever reason, and they say something like "I will make it up to you, I promise," how long do you give them to make it up to you?

(Assuming that this is early stages of dating- like first or second date.)

If they don't offer a specific alternative date (i.e. "Hey, I had something come up on Saturday, can we postpone till next Friday?" then I assume they are calling it off.

Did they meet at a bar? If so, he probably looked her up on facebook when he sobered up and saw what she looked like then cancelled. If this is the case, he probably won't call again.

No, they met through his sister just by happen stance. They have been texting and were gonna go to a movie. He suggested a basketball game instead. He canceled the day of the game and said he got sidetracked.

I told her to cut her losses.

Tell her not to make herself too available. Wait for him to text. And tell her to read the book "Why Men Love B***es" by Sherry Argov. I know lots of girls who've read that and have guys begging to go on dates with them.

Works for guys too. We always want what we cant have.

This. A cancellation is completely understandable, and if he really does want to see you he'll say "I'm so sorry. Can we do this Wednesday instead?" If not... well, he's either an idiot or just not that into you.
