When I was 20 and looking:

1. Good looks. I was very shallow and if she didn't look good I never really tried to find out anything else.
2. Personality. No matter how good she looked, if I couldn't stand to be around her for very long, I didn't.
3. Intelligence.
4. Similar political or religious views
5. Cooking and cleaning skills (didn't really care about it, or even really think about it.

If I had to do it over again.

5. Good looks. (once again, however, true physical ugliness could prevent initial contact)

Fortunately for me, Mom-O-Lot excels in good looks, personality, intelligence, and cooking skills. We have almost identical political and religious views. Cleaning skills may sometimes lack, but it's a small price to pay.

Dad...Mom would be able to clean more if you quit cranking out babies!
