What is the correct pronunciation of Qatar?

People at TAMU that have both worked and/or traveled there say Kutter.

Jon Voight just said KahTahr on this rerun of Transformers.

The man sired Angelina Jolie. There must be some respect given to his interpretation.

The blond hottie techie just said KahTahr.

This might be a conspiracy to make us piss off the Qatarians.

Pronounced like cutter. And that's coming from many different people that have been there.

It's more like cutter, but, either way Americans say it wrong. The problem is we don't have the right dialect

fido is right. we don't pronounce it right no matter what we say. i lived there for a year and a half and say kah tar. there is nothing worse than hearing a redneck say "CUTTER" in the middle of their redneck accented sentence. it just doesn't sound right unless it's spoken in arabic context.

It'd more like kah-ter with the "h" kinda like a hocking sound in your throat. Kutter is the lazy American way. We say it that way because many people at a&m wont understand what you're talking about. And yes I work closely with the Qatar campus and offices at TAMU
