Just had John Moore a/c out for a diagnosis. Wow! They diagnosed as a leaking evaporator coil. OK so far. 3 year old system, coil under warranty, I just have to pay the labor. They quoted a 5-6 hour job and $1499.00 labor. After I recovered I stated I want to explore my options, can you just recharge the system so we have full a/c again. The tech said sure, just will be another $300.00 on top of the $169.00 diagnostic fee. We asked him to leave.
My wife called and spoke to their office and they refused to help out. Today we got another opinion from Climatemasters and was given an estimate of $600.00 max. Needless to say we will be using Climatemasters. Everyone be warned of John Moore A/C for pricegouging and fraudulent misrepresentation of repairs. These Dollar amounts are valid and documented and are not exaggerated.

Second post in as many days about their ridiculous prices. The sad thing is there's people that dont know any better that're paying them that. Climate Masters is ok but $600 still isnt great for replacing a warranty coil and adding some freon. If you shop around I'm pretty sure you can find someone cheaper.

$300 to add freon is freaking hilarious. They must have pegged you as stupid rich folk.

On a serious note, some AC people will just bail if they think you are going to shop the price, because they know their quote was so outrageous that you wont deal with them on principal. They basically bluff, then run if you call it.

No. just a Monday afternoon. Next step is the BBB. Saw they had 126 complaints lodged, will be 127 by this afternoon. If they won't respond to a phone call they can respond to the BBB. Again, be warned. This kind of behavior is not a one time thing, it is their way of doing business

vette guy, i am having this very same problem with the same company. John moore is a joke, they came out monday night 3 hours late and the guy charged us 420 dollars to recharge at 4lbs. The guy never checked for a leak just simply refilled it, which im sure the EPA would be interested in. Well when i found out from my girl friend how much they charged i went off the deep end. I called everyone in that company from the techs to the top, i finall talked to a supervisor who told me they charge a 250 flat fee for 2 lbs of freon, which already is a joke and 40 dollars for every pound after. Well when i asked how this tech came up with an extra hundred dollars, i got no answers. The AC went out the very next day so i called again and they immediatly sent out another tech, brian boran, who was more than nice and helpful and answered every question i had. He chaecked for leaks and found none and located the problem, but didnt have the tools to fix it so i scheduled an appointment for this morning. Well guess who called me this morning saying they were headed to my house to fix the problem, the same SOB that stole 100 dollars from me monday, so i informed him that he was to only come to my house is he was escorted by the police, cus he would need them there. Needless to say the found another tech in the area to send and fix the problem, but over 72 hours without AC and dealing with a company i no longer trust or will ever use again has left quite a sour taste in my mouth. Im thinking about writing the editorial at the eagle or contacting corporate office to see what can be done, cus this company is a damn joke!!

Oh by the way the tech that ripped us off was named jeffrey lamb, so if anyone happends to use them and they send out a tech, just be forewarned about this man!!

John Moore is an Aggie, maybe someone could try to reach him directly?

Seems they would not able to grow like they have been by price gouging people, seems like word would spread fairly quickly in the service industry.

From what i gather lockett, these individual agents do the work around here and in and around houston and use John Moores name, from what ive gotten from talking to several people they dont use a set price list, each of these agents is basically throwing out a number and seeing if they can get a bite. In some cases there really isnt any other options, such as what happened to me monday night, i had pets a 6 year old girl and i wasnt about to sleep in a hot house. Well when i found out exactly how bad they over charged us i decided to do something. Aparently the John moore agent that does the majority of work around B/CS is named Matt and he takes his job very seriously and is very helpful, however the agent i got on monday was from Houston and drove in to do the job, he didn't care about the John Moore name or how his poor service affected the companies business around here because he works primarily in and around houston he was more concerned with making a quick buck on this job. I'm not saying all the agents that work for John Moore are bad, but i'm sure they would be interested in knowing one of their agents is taking advantage of their customers.

BBB is a complete joke, like John Moore. Who calls BBB until they have a complaint? No one! What is the point? Complain to BBB after the fact, like everyone else? No one calls before they use John Moore.
