The scoring system is not what you are used to. Virtually every play results in points for either the offense (white) or the defense (maroon).

so our defense is getting better

Hard to say. With JJ and Tannehill at QB our offense rolled right down the field, but JJ at least does that against a lot of defenses. Showers/O'Quinn/Joekel had a lot more trouble moving the ball.

With a new DC bringing a whole new defensive scheme(4-3 to 3-4), I wouldn't expect the defense to look great in the spring game. In fact, I would expect to see a noticeable learning curve when the season starts. We'll probably look kind of sloppy early on as players figure out the new scheme. Hopefully we will have worked out a lot of kinks by the time conference play starts.

Also, several prominent defensive players were not suited up today... Eddie Brown, Frederick, and Mangan in particular. Those three were starters last year.

Joekel looked good. Once he engages it's over, that defender is out of the play. Had several very nice blocks on both running and passing plays.

One thing we know and have known since Sherman stepped foot on campus, our first offensive unit is a machine.

That said our defense was minus three starters, Brown, Mangan, and TFred and Sherman took all blitz packages out in the first half thus the burst of sacks and hurries in the second half. The defense closed a LARGE gap from the first half to the second and had a sizable lead until both 3rd units got on the field.
