In the 1990's they were talking about adding Southwest Airlines flights and they still have the crappy commuter planes. What gives?

Their plans lack any real thrust.

when Hooters in CS opens

the answer to this question is simple. The city and the University refused to expand the runway in the 1980's to accommodate large freight transit aircraft. HP, Samsung, and many other high tech companies wanted to build manufacturing facilities in College Station to tap into the intellectual capital that A&M has. In order to do so, they needed the ability to transport those goods in bulk quantities. The city and A&M could not agree to expand it and Austin and Houston pretty much got the tech companies. Pretty sad if you ask me.

Long range plans are (were?) to build an entirely new airport out across the highway from Riverside Campus and for the university to get out of the airport business all together. Of course, last I heard was that A&M, the cities and county were squabbling over who'd foot the bill, so who knows...

Easterwood can handle any plane out, pretty much, including the triple 7. Why would a company like Southwest want to invest in putting their planes here when CS is 90 miles from Austin and 120 from Hobby? It doesnt make sense for them, from a business standpoint.
