during the day really keeps your house cooler and keeps your electricity bill lower?

Frugal moms seem to think that. But I like the shutters being open in every room.

I like a dark, cold cave to relax in. My lights are always off, and blinds are always shut...but my AC is set to very cold.

Lights do produce heat, and some more than others. I like a very bright office, so I switched to the fluorescent ones, and that kept it a lot cooler.

absolutely! the only blinds open are the two rooms with windows shaded...the dining room by entry porch and the breakfast room by patio....you can physically feel the heat if the blinds are open

We keep the blinds mostly closed during the day but when it gets to be 6 o'clock or so, I open 'em -- twilight is my favorite part of the day!

I LOVE having a dark & cool house. Turn off all the lights, close all the blinds and pull the curtains.
