I'm paying $99/mo for the U200 with HD and an extra receiver, and internet.

I paid $114/mo for fewer channels on cable, with HD, no DVR, and internet.

Blinding fast internet, whole house HD DVR, relatively cheap.

I really wish this or FIOS would come to B/CS.

cons: i havent liked the DVR interface as much as comcast, comcast interface was more intuitive

pros: everything else. Especially video on demand. With comcast, when i wanted to order a video (that wasnt a porno), i had an option of about 30 movies and they were all 5 bucks.

with Uverse, theres a library of at least 950 movies, and they are priced to where new releases are 4 bucks and everything else is just TWO bucks to rent. It is fantastic, the video store is moot.

I heart my uverse. I love that I can DVR 4 shows at once.

i have uverse. it seems the same as when i had dsl and cable TV. maybe i am not fully maximizing the experience.

I guarantee your DSL was not as fast, but if you aren't doing a lot of high-res streaming video or downloading large files, you wouldn't be likely to notice. And if you only have one TV, it's not going to be terribly different from satellite or digital cable.

i rarely watched videos or download anything. I have 2 TV's but really mainly only watch one of them.

I priced Uverse vs TWC in Bedford, TX

Uverse would cost me (after taxes and fees) about $15 MORE a month for service with SLOWER internet.

I have TWC + 7mbps RR cable internet - $107+change per month (after all fees)

I got a quote for Uverse and they want about $122 +change for U200 + 6mbps + 2 extra receivers. This is not including the $200 rebate you get with Uverse that pretty much makes the price difference moot. I think I'm going to switch, but I'm going to wait until after law school finals are over.

The thing I don't like is how I have to pay for HD and have to rent the other receivers. TWC doesn't charge for the ~20 HD channels they offer and ofcourse, all TVs have free extended cable, so no extra receivers needed.

TWC DVR SUCKS the big one, too.

My parents have Uverse and like it, but they have reception issues. The signal is low all of the time, but I think it was a lazy install guy.

I have TWC and totally hate the program guide. You have to scroll through all the channels, even the ones you don't subscribe to. My old Dish Network guide let me choose only the programs I subscribe to or create a totally custom guide.

Does Uverse have something similar?

You can create a custom guide. Uverse for some reason has, and I'm not joking, like 55 spanish channels. I had no idea there was so much espanol tv out there. You can just wipe those from the guide at will or make a "favorite" guide with even fewer channels, but leaving in the ones you sometimes see on the main guide.

Thanks. That's what I was looking for. With TWC, you have to scroll through all that crap.

Is there any way to tell if you are close to being able to get Uverse. How did you know you were within a mile of getting it?

I'm paying $99/mo for the U400 and that will only go up $10 after my first year deal is up.

We had Comcast, and last year over multiple different problems experienced the worst customer service ever from their office people to the techs who never showed up for their appointments that i took vacation days for, to the idiots on the phone... Switched to Uverse as soon as it was available. the few customer service issues we had, their phone people were top notch, and their techs who installed and fixed our problems were great.

Also - for the same amt I was paying monthly at Comcast for cable and internet, we get noticeably faster internet and more channels, esp more HD channels. They seem to add 4-5 HD channels a month lately too.

Also, Whole house DVR is really nice. HD quality wasnt as good as comcast a year ago, but watching HD from Comcast at a friend's recently, I'd say now it's about the same.
