Authorities are searching for a murder suspect who escaped from the Waller County Jail early this morning.

Darryl Layne Norris, 26, broke out through an air vent in his cell between 2 a.m. and 3 a.m., officials at the Waller County Sheriff's Office said.

The air vent is less than a foot wide and officials believes Norris may have been plotting his escape for some time. All other inmates that were in his cell at the time of the incident are currently being interviewed, Chief Deputy John Kremmer said.

Norris and another man were charged with murder for their involvement in the April 17th robbery of a convenience store, during which the business owner was shot and killed, said Chief Deputy John Kremmer.

Norris is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, with reddish blond hair and hazel eyes. He has tattoos on his chest, arms and legs.
