We used to camp at the military fam camp there when I was a kid. Its where I "learned" to fish.

GREAT lake. Had a blast there a long time ago and would love to back.

I owned a lot on the top of a cliff... had it for about a year then doubled it and sold it.

You're a true Possum Kingdom expert if you can pick which of the following does not actually exist:

1. Peanut Patch
2. Bass Island
3. The Horseshoe
4. Bailey's Marina
5. Sandy Beach
6. Broadway

1. Peanut Patch- across the way from sandy beach (kinda)
2. Bass Island- Never heard of it
3. The Horseshoe- I assume thats the horseshoe in Hell's gate, but I never referred to it as that
4. Bailey's Marina- one of the many on PK
5. Sandy Beach- the island beach next to broadway
6. Broadway- the roughest part of the lake on a windy day.

2. Bass Island- Bass Island around the corner from the State Park, off of Broadway. Depending on the lake level, could be submerged/partially submerged.

Meh, I still consider myself an expert. I can still point out every submerged stump in Possum Hollow (and several others).

Some buddies of mine and I stayed a weekend there last summer. It's a great lake.

PK - one of the few limestone bottom lakes in Texas. Because it's not a sand bottom lake, it's much clearer and doesn't get as murkey.

Lake Travis is far superior to Possum Kingdom Lake.

I have never been to this lake. I would like to go.

This song has had its fair share of controversy as to the meaning of the song. The top theories of what the song means seem to be that it is about a vampire, the Zodiac Killer, an odd sexual encounter or a man who experiences a botched attempt at seducing a woman. In a 1995 interview by Jennifer Clay, bassist Lisa Umbarger and guitarist Todd Lewis gave these statements about the song:

Umbarger said, "They're just these silly stories he's (Todd) heard his family tell. It's a vampire thing.' So we have this big vampire underground following, and 'Possum Kingdom' has kind of stirred it up."

"It's just a story I heard long ago; it's just a really cool, eerie lake, and some stuff I heard and some stuff I just make up. I tend to do that," Lewis explains about the watering hole where his family used to hang out and barbecue. "They dammed up this big river up there, and it's got all these spooky names like Hell's Gate. It's really cool."
