But the Batt beat me to it:

There were a bunch of Fratties hanging around the MSC breezeway before Silver Taps. Normally I'd be impressed that so many wanted to attend. But these two Frats were all wearing the samr clothes. THey were wearing those goofy Greek letter shirts, like they wanted to be sure everyone saw them going to Silver Taps.

It's nice if Greeks want to go to Silver Taps, but making a big show of "Hey, we're Greeks, see, we DO participate in traditions" seems really lame.

The only groups that need to be in any kind of standardized attire are the Corps, and Traditions Council, so the families can easily identify them if they are needed.

i dont see a problem with it...if they want to go as a group, let them go as a group.

If you had a problem with both the corps and frats wearing organization clothing then I could see your point.....but if you allow the corps to wear their group attire then you should be okay with frats wearing their attire

The Corps has to wear their stuff, don't they?

After all, they are saluting and everything. And the RVs would look kinda strange if they showed up in shorts and tshirts. THe Corps dresses nicely because it's a solemn event, and that's how they pay respect.

I'm not gonna wear a suit to Silver Taps, but I can respect that the Corps dresses nicely for it.

Frats don't have a reason to dress alike except so they will get noticed.

I'm no fan of frats. But I don't see a problem here.

Frats dress up to show unity just as the corps dress to show unity

Unity of what? Of their Frat? It's certainly not to show unity with the student body.

The Corps wears their uniform becasue it's what they do, and what they've been doing since the start of SIlver Taps. It's part of the tradition.

I dunno, Frat letters seem to be a "look at me" kind of thing. Which isn't what Silver Taps is about.

think about what uniforms do: they show unity....they show that everyone wearing it is a part of the organization

that is why the frats do it also

In the big boy game of life you have to pick your battles and this whinney one needs to be passed over, it is not worth your fretting effort.

They are there and showing respect so who cares. Now if they were talking and being rude then that woudl be a reason to get p.o'd but other than that...why would anyone really care that they wear their letters?

But if they weren't wearing those goofy shirts, how would you know they were fratties?

Not taking up for them...but yeah. Pick your battles.

Or if it makes you feel like more of a true Aggie, beat the crap out of them, preferably at Silver Taps. Then, everyone will know how redass you are.
