Do not purchase tickets from Ogre09 at least that's what they said the user name was on here.
This was the number they were texting me from +1 (713) 925-7009. And gave me these numbers for Zelle to send money to them:
7743734119 Dc Custom Construction, Inc

2397107209 Ellis Restaurant Group, Inc

7747028193 Ecosphere Environmental services, Inc

Very sad people try to do things like this. Get a job and work like the rest of us. All I was trying to do was buy some baseball tickets for Friday vs Vanderbilt and give them to my son on his birthday tomorrow. God bless everyone and Gig 'Em

I also just got scammed trying to buy a Vandy baseball ticket for Friday night.

979-429-3744 frankwbrowning@yahoo.com

Texted from above number, had me send money via Zelle and then stopped responding. Tried calling and it says number is disconnected, then saw the same number listed by somebody else who got scammed. I should have looked here first or had him verify his Texags account.

News flash….unless you saw the guy post using that username, it wasn't him

Someone could text you saying they are Brauny/Liucci/Watchole etc…

Thanks for sharing….to add, if it's not a at least a TX area code, be wary, though plenty of local-ish scammers too.

Not 100% either, but I've used following link with moderate success. If it finds a legit owner of phone #, good sign, but still proceed with caution. If no owner, wouldn't go further personally.

I feel like this thread should get pinned at the top of this Forum.

Going to provide a "proceed with caution" with these numbers unless this person can verify the tickets (provide a pic) or can explain the issue with their Zelle account (i wasn't able to send, Chase kicked it back to me).

I haven't been scammed yet and fortunately haven't sent any money yet (although I did try), but I'm starting to wonder.

Don't PAY ANYONE if you can't tie them to the texags account. If the texags account isn't responding to your thread or you are responding directly to someones email they posted by their username.....don't pay them.

Just make it easy and pay after you receive the tickets.

Only buy from an Agtag or use stubhub or another national service is my best advice

A long post history is a great sign (could be hacked but if communication skills check out, I'd go forward)

Broken sentences, run.

If they are out of town for business or in the hospital or something similar, run.

Google their phone number. Reverse lookup their phone number on familytreenow.com and see if they seem like a real person.

Google their email address. Google their name and any other identifying info.

If they are pushy or just generally odd, run.

Ask extra questions. In my very limited experience, I've found they are so lazy they have canned responses and hardly even answer the question I'm asking.

If in doubt, ask where they are located. Ask them to meet up (even if they're in a different town). If they give you the doctor or business excuse, run.

If you miss a deal because a person seems sketchy and they're legit, oh well. 9 times out of 10 you avoided a scam.

If it is a rookie poster and you can't connect their phone number with a real person who seems like a legit Aggie, report them to Texags and move on.

Buy from long term posters. Buy from people who have ag tag or 12th man credentials. Do a lot of due diligence if you aren't buying from one of those. It's insane how much low hanging fruit these guys are still stealing.

Yes, I just bought recently from EvenPar, has an AgTag and 12th Man Donor. No issues.

Was the only one who replied to my thread and then immediately received a text message. That number said it was their handle. Wouldnt give name or class or anything though.

If you leave your phone number on a post, scammers are going to reach out and tell you they are someone legitimate…

Dude you literally bought my tickets today, I had them to you within minutes of your purchase.

And after you lowballed my price, I still sold them to you for what you offered.

How about an apology for wrecklessly dragging my name through the mud on a Scam thread.

On that note… I do still have 4 available on Sat vs Vandy. PM me if interested

Another tip, sign-up for premium so you can communicate via PM with people. A buyer posting phone number is inviting scammers into their phone.

Evenpar is trustworthy but I did have someone from the scam phone number tell me they were Evenpar. I got sorted out before spending money. Goes back to the advice of not responding to texts from people saying that they have tickets.

This is good advice about PMs.

Some scammers will buy the $5 month package to have a star next to their name and seem more legit and have access to PM - seen it a few times.
cstat07
How long do you want to ignore this user?
That's true. You will still need to look at posting history but at least you won't have to put your contact info out there to be scraped and/or spammed on a regular basis.

Yes. A PM isn't a free pass. Still vet the person's posting history. If you're getting a PM from a suspect poster, buyer beware.
Aggie09Derek
How long do you want to ignore this user?
PM then requires you to search for username to find profile and find history

Most users ain't gonna be able to do that effectively

Having them contact you directly is fine via phone or email if you make them comment on the thread so you can then click on the profile directly and see posting history.

But yes if don't have stars you should get them and then if someone does PM you (or if not comfortable putting contact info out there require a PM) to search for them and look at history.

Thanks everyone for the good advice and tips will definitely keep this in mind moving forward. One of the small issues I have is that I'm a new user and I found out about Texag Ticket Exchange from a co worker. That is the whole reason I created an account. I was born and raised in Bryan/College Station, long time Aggie fan, and my wife graduated from A&M in 09. I don't have a long history of posting but hopefully by me posting on here and other threads will start helping me get me some credentials. Thanks everyone and Gig 'Em.
