i know we won CONCACAF, but how does that put us in with the rest of the world?

Not very far. Winning Concacaf does not mean much in the world stage. I believe however the United States should, at least, reach the second round and the semifinals at best...

I'd say we have the best shot we've ever had (not saying much), but depending on our draw we could do very well. Quarters? Semi's would be a long long shot but a dream come true

definitely advancing to the 2nd round should be expected(still hard to do though). After that it just depends on the matchups, if we go up against brazil early, we'd have to pull something out of our butts

All depends on the draw. If the soccer gods smite us and group us with Brazil, Czech/Netherlands, and Ivory Coast/Ghana, I think we won't make it out of the first round. Missing out on a seed significantly increased our chances of being in a "group of death".

Best case scenario, our group is relatively easy and we make a run to the QFs. People forget that 1) we got more than a little luck making it to the 2nd round in '02 and 2)European teams tend to do very well in WCs in Europe. That doesn't bode well when we have a decent chance of getting two in our group and we haven't exactly shined in Europe in the past.

No kidding. We can only pray that The Netherlands gets put in Mexico's group--safely away from us. If the US draws a group with the Dutch and one of those other seeded teams, making it out of group play will be a miracle.

In our group we have seeded European team (or Argentina/Brazil), another European team, and no Asian team. That's gonna be tough.

Hopefully, the players started training with their game faces on yesterday. I think they make it to the 2nd round.
