Howdy Ags,

Most people don't realize that Texas A&M University has a successful judo team. The Texas A&M Judo team consistently is one of the top collegiate judo programs in the country. This year is no different as the men's team finished 3rd behind West Point and San Jose State University.

Adrian Bernal '21 (North Bergen, NJ), is an outstanding athlete and is representing the United States at 2 major international events. He travels to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the 2018 Junior Pan American Championships from July 5-8. He then goes to Sao Paulo, Brazil, from July 18-25 for the 2018 FISU America Games (Collegiate Pan Am Games). He also has the opportunity to qualify for the 2018 World Judo Junior (Under 20) Championships in October. The qualifying tournament is the 2018 USA Judo Junior Olympics in Spokane, WA.

Even though Judo was the 1st martial arts to be included in the Olympics (1964) it doesn't get a lot of publicity so funding is difficult to obtain compared to popular sports within the USA.

I hope the Aggie Family will support your his quest to make the Junior World team and opens doors for a future Olympic hopeful.
