I was looking at our roster and noticed that we only have ONE Senior and FOUR Juniors. If we are as good as our #6 Ranking this year, we will be even better the next two years. Exciting times once again for Ag soccer!

Yeah, but look at those five players: Strutz is the senior, and Burke, Smith, Labhart and Echavarry are the juniors. That's a lot of heart, talent and speed. The bonus for the Aggies is that they are already working freshmen and sophomores in to the system.

That is a TON of talent but Emma Smith is the only really fast player in that group. Labhart has above average speed for a defender and the rest of those girls make up for their average speed with great insticts and skill. Amanda Burke is known to be one of the slowest players on the team but again, makes up for it with skill and savvy.

You can see that G is certainly recruiting a lot of players with both size and speed lately and that is what it is going to take to beat the North Carolinas of the world. Not to take anything away from our veterans, as they are oustanding college players who have kept A&M at or near the top 10 their entire careers but while we have players with size and speed (Smith) and also players with great skill (Strutz, Burke), UNC puts 11 players on the field that have ALL of those attributes (players like the our recently retired Linsey Johnson). While the future of the program is certainly looking bright, I hope G is able to take these young players with limitless potential and turn them into great all-around players like the ones you see at UNC...I think the talent is there.

Even though G. is bringing in top talent, his job is getting harder, too. Texas is really putting together good teams. The Big 12 is such a tough conference in all sports, which I think is a good thing, but it puts lots of pressure on G., Laurie Corbelli and all the coaches at A&M.

So far this season, I think our fish have really stepped up. Kat Krambeer has been wonderful!

And of course, in my opinion, our most important underclassman is Kati Jo. No doubt.
