Porscha Lucas is one of three finalists for the Bowerman Award. This award is given to the top collegiate Track & Field athlete for their accomplishments during the Indoor and Outdoor Seasons. Fans can vote from now until November 20 and this will count as a portion of the overall voting process.

Porscha won the Outdoor 200 meters, ran the second leg on the first place, record-setting 4X100 meter relay team and placed 4th in the 100 meters. Through these events Porscha scored 17.5 of our 50 points to help win the National Championship.

During the Indoor season Porscha ran on the first place 4X400 meter relay team, took second in the 200 meters and 8th in the 60 meters. This helped Texas A&M place second at the NCAA Championships.

Thumbs up, but I don't understand the timing of this award...is it for last season? Why so late?

Well this is the first year that they've done the award so that may have something to do with the timing.

Also, with international competitions during the summer these athletes are typically busy competing in those and then they go straight to school so having it in December makes sure there is no conflict with competitions or school for attending the banquet.
