the track is small... an indoor track is half the size of an outdoor track... the raised ends are to help with the tighter turn radius that comes with a smaller track. I'm pretty sure they can raise or lower the ends of our track if they want to

It is the nicest in the nation. There are only 2 surfaces in the world with this type of surface...the other was the outdoor track in Bejing. Yes, the banks go down, they will be down for the longer races, and up for the short ones.

the size of this place is amazing....

other indoor tracks barely circumvent around the oval that is why the track looks small in these pictures. this place is huge

It is mostly maroon, except for a few of the sprint lanes, and jump lanes. It looks a lot more maroon in person. Check out this link for a video.

The entire thing is maroon now. It had to be done in stages.

the color in those pictures is off... i was at the practice meet today and it's definitely more "normal track color" than burnt orange

I can't get over how big the stands are. The building doesn't look so huge in pictures unless you've seen it in person. WOW!

a little off topic, but while i was standing oustisde waiting to into the basketball game, an elderly gentelmen started to talk to me and it turns out he was the head track coach for 35 years at a&m. I was wondering if yall knew his name, i tryed google but it wasn't much help.

Ted Nelson – now there’s a guy that bleeds maroon.

In high school, I had articles pinned on my wall about his fabulous accomplishments while at Andrews High School. Later I sat beside him in biology class at Aggieland. After I learned his name, it took me a few weeks to ask if he was THE Ted Nelson.

After his four years of track, he played one year of football. He occasionally played split end on offense. Stallings played him at defensive end on extra points and field goals in an attempt to block kicks.

Is there any other indoor facility where the fans sit so far from the oval?

The indoor facilty at UH does not have banked corners.

Does anyone know where student seating will be?

On a related note, that video mentioned that the plan is to add more bleachers (hopfully around the facility.)

because Coach Henry has a separate contract with Nike himself, and prefers his athletes to wear Nike so they got a special deal/permission to wear Nike instead of Adidas
