Chances of winning the Mens Tennis Tournament?

Even though we are seeded third, and have lost to Baylor at home, I like our chances of winning the tournament this weekend. First, Baylor does not need to win it to host a regional, as they are ranked 5th, and won the regular season championship. Second, we get to play tu after we beat CU in the quarterfinals. We barely lost to tu in Austin, and we should be able to avenge that loss at home with a large crowd to pump up our guys. If we beat tu convincingly, I think that will give us the momentum and the opportunity to beat Baylor in the finals. Then, the NCAA site selection committee should give A&M their own regional to host as a top 16 team. If we win that one and the second round as well, we will be at home for the NCAA Championships. Does this sound reasonable, or am I just whistling Dixi?

2:1 odds on beating the hell outta t.u.
3:2 odds on beating the hell outta baylor.

the match against t.u.(provided we make short work of cu) should be CRAZY, and i expect a rematch with the bears would be as well. first let's get a quick, solid warmup in with cu, then go reclaim scoreboard from the other two. should be an exciting weekend. gig em ags!

I suppose it it stating the obvious that the key to the kingdom is with the doubles teams. We have scored three points on everyone we have played (except the Texas Cup), and our losses have all come when we lost the doubles point. There is a possibility of several very exciting matches. I just hope we are around Sunday for the fun.

I didn't see the Baylor match, so I can't speak to that, but I know we were a missed floating overhead away from winning the doubles point against t.u., putting us over the top, so I know we can beat them any given day, and playing here instead of there should help.

Coach Cass is quoted in this mornings Eagle as saying that he may change the doubles teams in the conference tournament.

i predict, or at least would like to see...
1)lester/newp
2)skube/either ante or bauer
3)khaled/either ante or bauer

if we really wanted to secure the dubs point, put skube at 3 with anyone(i suggest khaled, ante would be too obvious)...whether or not people will criticize that for blatant stacking i'm not sure. either way...we WILL win the dubs point with either of these lineups IMHO, assuming t.u. and baylor use the same guys and we play to our potential.

i also think cass should use the same singles ladder, with keith at 2 and lester at 3.

I like that lineup too. I would love to see Khaled play 3 doubs w/ Ante. Don't get me wrong, Keith has been a good player for us for years, but he has struggled w/ injuries and consistency this year, while Khaled brings a surefire intensity to the court.

Quote the rocket nevermore....right raven? I will be there and would love to meet you. Please come up and visit if you have a chance.

Keys...doubles point and third singles...cook/zarhi...

and yes the loser of the Texas/A&M match will travel for the regional and might be out of the top 16...

The Ags have about a 20% chance of winning.
98% chance of beating CU;50% chance of beating Texas and 40% of beating Baylor.I look forward to being there and seeing the Ags defy the odds. Hope to see you there Ron. By the way I just received my NCAA tournament tickets in the mail.
