I watched the dual meet in Austin today. I don't know what the final score was but there was no doubt the Ags won. I'm fairly certain several swims were exhibitioned to keep the score reasonably close.
It was nice to see the Ags race in person. Just a couple of observations from the meet:
- Kristen Heiss has effortless speed in backstroke and freestyle. Fastest freestyle turns I've seen from a woman.
- Julia Wilkinson is a great all around swimmer. In her IM she barely lost any ground to Texas' best breaststroker
- Triin has amazing easy speed in her 50 free. I thought her race wasn't that fast but she swam a 22.8 and it didn't look like she was trying.
- Texas Susan Escobar had her way with us in the 1000 and the 500. She almost pulled out a win in the 200 fly on the last 25.
- With the exception of the 200 fly, our girls finished their races very well. Excellent race strategy and pacing.
- Texas breaststroker (Soelter?) was good - stayed with Alia in both the 100 and the 200.
- Just about as many A&M fans in the stands at Texas fans.
Great win overall girls!
