Just finished Broadchurch Series 2. This show is so good on so many levels.

Netflix has ordered a 13-episode 3rd series of Black Mirror. There was great rejoicing.

I think that the very first episode was broadcast the weekend after President Kennedy was assassinated.

My favorites are:

Doctor Who
Doc Martin
Last of the Summer Wine
Good Neighbors (US) / The Good Life (UK)
Benny Hill

The last three are no longer in production.

Regarding Fawlty Towers, there is a story about some members of the Monty Python show accidentally visited the place and characters on which it was based. All but John Cleese got fed up pretty quickly and left, but John Cleese stayed and took notes. They used the notes to create Fawlty Towers.

Correction: only 12 new Black Mirror episodes. But whatever. Any number is awesome.

I know it sounds crazy, but the Great British Baking Show is actually good. Sort of a top chef, but everyone is nice to each other - no *******s.

If you were a fan of Call the Midwife, they've added a new season.

I skipped to the end so I may have missed these recommendations having been given by others.

In addition to the many fine shows mentioned you might like:

Inspector Morse ( classic DCI stuff )
Bletchley Park ( post war adventures of group of gals who had been code breakers )
Endeavour ( recent series that shows Morse as young constable )
George Gently ( more DCI stuff )

Some of this is Netflix and some you have to catch on PBS / Masterpiece

If you like very gentle humor with a good story, a series has just been released on Netflix. We just finished watching the 2nd series which was also really good. It sounds stupid, but it's good - it was written and stars Mackenzie Crook who you may recognize from the UK Office and also was in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Sherlock is awesome. I'm waiting on the Christmas special and the next series.

Just started watching Luther. While it's not as good as Sherlock; it's still pretty interesting. I'm done with the first 2 series (seasons).

I like Luther a lot.....nice n gritty detective series.

Also just finished watching the final episode of Peep Show - probably one of my favorite comedy series ever...makes you laugh and makes you cringe....a lot!

The Fall series 3 just finished filming a few weeks ago so hopefully it is out somewhat soon.

Wallander series is great. Stars Kenneth Branagh and a young Tom Hiddleston in a smaller role.

The Fall is really great. Holy mackerel

How did we get through five pages of this thread without a mention of The IT Crowd? Some of the jokes are starting to feel a bit dated (Vista - We're all going to die!), but this may be my second favorite BBC show of all time. (Monty Python will always be number one.)

I've been binging The Fall. My mind is all messed up. I don't know if I dislike Spector or the inspector more.

Just finished season 1 of Spotless on Netflix. It's CanalPlay (French VoD), not BBC, but it's in English, shot in England, and actually pretty entertaining.

Binge watched The Fall over the weekend. Top notch!

The Fall is in my top 3 shows of the year. Stella Gibson is just...my god. But everyone knows I love Gillian Anderson so.

Not sure if this is the proper thread, but I finally saw Amelia and Rory's last Doctor Who episode today, and



Other than that, BBC America is giving me my Who fix this week.

I suspect the costs would be reasonable. There is a similar service and it's going to need to be competitive. Probably $5-$10 a month max I would suspect.
