Kenan has had some really good characters that faded away for some reason. I was always a fan of Virginiaca and he's done a good job with What Up with That? which we haven't seen in a while. I think he does really well when he's given a recurring character. It's the random characters in other sketches where he seems to be very one-note.

Probably so, but cast changes don't have to mean the end of good recurring skits. Maybe the writers disagree.

I agree for most skits, but that one's an exception.

You can replace Nasim because she was just a backup singer. That leaves four cast members that actually made the skit funny with their acting/expressions/dancing rather than superior writing. And 75% of those folks are gone. It's a dumb skit that was funny because of those particular players. If I can't see Jason Sudeikis dancing in that track suit, or Fred Armisen playing Giuseppe, or Bill Hader as Lindsey Buckingham, it just doesn't work for me. Keenan is/was brilliant in that one, but I don't trust anyone else on the current roster to fill the other three spots.

I don't watch SNL much anymore and now I know why. This weekend update is the dumbest thing I've ever seen

Weekend Update was terrible. And while whoever else's "all black female comedians are terrible" contribution was stupid, I do think that Leslie Jones, specifically, is horribly unfunny.

The 'getting rid of unnecessary stuff in my brain' sketch was great, especially for someone of the right age who would know nearly all of those things. I lost it with the Savage Garden song.

In general, I thought James Franco was really good. He's a good goofball who works well in this setup.

The Star Wars trailer bit was pretty great, I thought.

I thought Star Wars was the best. Peter Pan was pretty funny, Tonker Bell. Grow A Guy, original idea, maybe a little too long, ending was funny.
Troll stupid, Weekend Update horrible. MTV Hip Hop nativity was ok, Jeezus Baby jesus I thought was spot on.

Literally just came back here to post this. Keenan absolutely kills in this sketch Pretty great.

franco's "I told you so" look when the "i am the true victim here" line falls flat was funny.
keenan was great in that one.

That ferguson sketch was in front of an audience, right? They must have been afraid to laugh because that was hilarious.

Last night was easily the best episode of the season! Personal favorite was The Office: Middle Earth

The office bit was outstanding. Taren Killiam, or whatever his name is, gives it 110%. IMO, far and away the best cast member.

I just got around to watching last weeks...that was the funniest one of the season. I laughed almost all the way through.

The Christmas mass skit was perfect.
The Right Side of the Bed southern morning show.
Clearing stuff out of your head.

All those stood out to me as very memorable. And yes Taran Killam is the best on the show...the guys hilarious.

Holy crap middle earth office was great! Te mass and Sumpn clause were also great.

And TK is great but hes not far and away the best.. kate mckinnon is nails and gets tons of acclaim.

Right now I think beck Bennet is the most underrated. He's hilarious.

You're missing out fyi. It's a much different experience than the American version.

I do wonder if that sketch went over a lot of heads.

I know. There's only so much time to watch TV.

I think that most people were familiar enough with the American version that they probably were able to make the appropriate Gandalf = Michael Scott = Ricky Gervais, Gollum = Dwight = British Dwight comparisons.

Yeah I have only seen a handful of the Brit episodes and only a handful of the americam, but it wasn't hard to figure out

chip - you should make time. it is only like 12x 40 minute episodes.

imo, ep 4 - "training" is quite possibly the funniest TV episode of all time.

also, google "ricky gervais 80s music video". i didnt know until yesterday that gervais was in a duran duran/tears for fears/WHAM style brit pop band back in the 80s.

if i remember correctly, the SNL skit is a pretty spot-on spoof of the first episode, right? (stapler in jello, etc.)

jello thing was first ep i believe, but wasnt the danceoff from later on in the series?
