'Tis the Season: Assorted notes as bowls get underway

One school of thought says that a good college football coach cannot be a good father. Nor can a good father be a good college football coach.

The profession pays very well, but there is a price that must be paid back.

Time demands of the job compromise time spent with family. Coaches spend long hours developing game plans. Coaches spend days on the road recruiting. Coaches spend the offseason doing countless appearances for alumni groups.

Not much time is left for family.
