Around Aggieland (8/9)

On Friday’s edition of TexAgs Radio, Kay Naegeli took us Around Aggieland and provided updates on all things Texas A&M as 24 Aggies continue to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, football reported last week and much more.

Aggies in the Olympics

• Jaxon Bowshire qualified for 10m platform diving semifinal. That will be on Saturday at 3 a.m. CT.
   
• Shamier Little and Team USA qualified for the women’s 4x400m relay with the fastest time of all heats (3:21:44). Final is on Saturday at 2:14 p.m. CT.
   
• Bryce Deadmon and Team USA qualified for the women’s 4x400m relay. Final is on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT.
   
• Brandon Miller ran in the men’s 800m semifinal this morning, but did not qualify, finished 17^th (1:45:79).
   
• Joni Taylor and Team USA women’s basketball semifinal vs. Australia.
   
• Friday, August 9 – Track & Field (Men’s 4x100m relay – final) - Fred Kerley – 12:47 p.m. NBC 
   
• Friday, August 9 – Track & Field (Men’s triple jump – final) - Yasser Mohammed Triki – 1:10 p.m. Peacock 

Soccer
On Thursday evening, Texas A&M soccer concluded its 2024 exhibition slate with a 1-0 win over SMU in Dallas. With the preseason slate in the books, the Aggies now turn their attention to the August 15 season opener at Lamar.

Women’s Golf
Texas A&M’s Adela Cernousek (Cer-no-sek) is advancing to the quarterfinals of the 124th U.S. Women’s Amateur.

Cernousek is fresh off a three-month stretch where she won the first Individual National Championship in program history, competed in three LPGA events and played for Team International at the 2024 Arnold Palmer Cup.

She will take on 15-year-old phenom Asterisk Talley in the quarters. The two will square off at 1:10 p.m. on Friday, and the match will be streamed on Peacock.
