Notes from Olin’s thoughts on Corbin

  • I would’ve had Jashuan Corbin two or three spots lower, but there’s a reason to have him ranked this high. He showed flashes in limited time. He had the fourth-longest run against the number one defense, Mississippi State. He had a long run against NC State. He was a productive guy with burst and explosion. We’ll have to wait and see if he has Trayveon Williams’ acceleration. He says he’s faster than Williams, but Williams had the acceleration. I think what you’ll see is an even more significant receiving threat from Corbin. Expect some wheel routes.

  • Jimbo Fisher says there's nothing Corbin can’t do. If a coach like Fisher says that, where three of his last four running backs led their conference in rushing, then what more of an endorsement do you need?

  • I think he runs for 1,200 yards in 2019 if he doesn’t get hurt. I doubt A&M relies as much on the running back as they did last year. I don’t know if he gets 18 carries a game. If he does, then he could lead the conference in rushing. If you gave me the option, I would sacrifice a 100 of those rushing yards for increased production in the passing game, and another return touchdown, I would take that as well.

  • I don’t know if he gets used on special teams all year long. He may be so integral to the offense as the number one running back. Obviously, he’s a massive threat if he stays as a returner. I would not be surprised if Ainias Smith takes over so Corbin can focus solely on running back. We don’t know where they’re going to go, but it’s a good problem to have. If you have guys that can do it at a reasonable level, then they should do it. Let Corbin focus on his role as a running back, but if he’s one of the best in the country, then you have to keep him there.
