Texas A&M prevails on Senior night, defeats Vanderbilt, 62-57

March 2, 2019

Sometimes results can be anticipated. Sometimes expectations are met. Sometimes an outcome is predictable. Texas A&M’s 64-57 Southeastern Conference basketball victory over Vanderbilt on Saturday was not one of those times.

A win over the hapless Commodores wasn’t necessarily unexpected, but the way in which the Aggies’ Savion Flagg and Christian Mekowulu controlled play under the basket caught Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy by surprise.

Flagg recorded 22 points and 12 boards, while Mekowulu had 19 points and 12 rebounds as the Aggies (13-15, 6-10) kept Vanderbilt (9-20, 0-16) winless in SEC play.
