Three-time All-American at NSU Gary Reasons previews Aggies/Demons
Key notes from Gary Reasons interview
-
A couple of days after last season ended they named Brad Laird as the head coach and it really wasn’t a surprise. I think he has a pretty good plan moving forward with the program. The program has fallen on a little bit of a mediocre time, really since 2008 they haven’t been above .500 but I think Brad is a good man for the job.

(Talking about DE Obinna Iheoma) He’s a senior and he’s got a defensive tackle on the line with him in Zak Krolczyk. They’re really going to put pressure on the quarterback.
-
They’ve got a couple guys at quarterback who are vying for time. I talked to Laird but the politician in him wouldn’t even answer me so I don’t know who is starting. Both of them will play but we will see who gets the nod to start on Thursday night.

I’ve been to Kyle Field many times. I broadcast a game when the upper section was put on the opposite side, back when it surpassed Texas attendance. I actually cut my teeth as a sideline reporter for ABC covering the Southwest Conference and then the start of the Big 12. I’ve covered every major college football conference and it’s been fun to stay connected to college football.

If you look at Jimbo's record and what he has accomplished at FSU, you know he commands respect. When he stands in front of his team for the first time he has all of those intangibles because of the National Championship and the ten win seasons. You know he’s going to get that respect from every person in that room and undivided attention. No slight on Kevin Sumlin, but he didn’t have that background that Jimbo Fisher brings with him and the capability for demonstrative change that Texas A&M is looking for to make strides in the SEC.

I had a pretty fun career at NSU. Back in ’81 we had some really good players on that team and I actually made the All-American Team. I was the first ever three-time All-American in the FCS and then I was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame with Terry Bradshaw and Walter Peyton. I had a great start to my professional career following an outstanding college career and I’ve been recognized for that. I really appreciate that, I bleed football. I really want the game to grow and prosper in positive aspects. I try to be more of a glass half-full guy.
