Notes from Liucci's breakdown on Williams

Trayveon has three 200-plus yard games to his credit. He’s rushed for almost 2,000 yards in two seasons and he did that banged up last year. He’s done that without a lead blocker or an offensive line that was displacing defensive players off the line of scrimmage by design…he’s largely done this himself. Something that people don’t realize is that Trayveon will run with power and break tackles. He will run through some tackles, like the Auburn game, 12 pounds lighter than he is now. I don’t think he is a “run you over” kind of guy but he will run through tackles. He has that versatility to catch passes and they are really going to let him do that this fall. I think he is a special running back and in this offense he will really thrive. Trayveon will go down as one of the most productive backs in school history. In this offense you could see his name mentioned as a Heisman candidate in 2019 as a senior.

Trayveon should have a very productive year. Staying healthy and having depth in this league are the main concerns…He hasn’t gone off against any of the non-power five teams that they have played. You want to stay healthy and get these young backs reps when you can. No question about his ability to have a 1,000 yard season.

He’s such a good person, and a tough kid too. Talk about guys who have won over their coaches, Trayveon is so bought in it’s not even funny. I think he has won over the respect of his coaches as much as anybody else on the team. You’ve got to be vocal and I think Trayveon has recognized the need for that and embraced his role on the team. Trayveon is setting the example for all of these young guys here. Guys like him and Sternberger are the guys that make up your team.

I don’t have a specific number for Williams this year but he has a high ceiling. His ceiling is to lead the SEC in rushing, I’ll let you throw a number on that. He has the potential but the staff wants to create depth. Unless you want to trot him out there against ULM and UAB and go for 200-plus yards, I don’t see him getting to 1,200 yards.
