Notes from Billy's breakdown on Hines
- I think he is one of those guys in the low 20s, and by the end of the season we will say "We should have had him a lot higher in our rankings." He is going to be great. I'm looking at four realistic options for linebacker this year: Tyrel Dodson, Otaro Alaka, Hines and maybe Buddy Johnson.
- What we saw last year was how good he can be in flashes. You see these plays and you know he is going to be good. He has gotten bigger and he looks good. He looks like an SEC linebacker this year.
- He was a tackling machine in high school, but he needs to be more consistent to stay on the field this year. If you are out there playing and you aren't fitting right or you are playing outside the system, over time there is a law of diminishing returns. For a freshman it's understandable that he would be inconsistent.
- I think this year he will play a ton. I think he will get a lot better, but I think in 2019 he is going to breakout. Just like at Alabama, these guys pop up as upperclassmen and they are great out of nowhere, but it's because they are being developed. At A&M they don't have that depth piled up, and he is going to get some time to play before he blows up as an upperclassman. I think he will be a big time linebacker at A&M. Especially since they didn't recruit a linebacker in the class behind him. They are basically handing him the linebacker position as a junior.
