Colin Blake visited College Station and Texas A&M over the weekend and went home the newest member of the Texas A&M class of 2012. Blake was blown away by the people on campus and how they embraced the football team; and he and his family felt like they were part of the Aggie Family and decided to end the recruiting process. Colin took some time to talk about the excitement of being an Aggie, what makes Aggieland so special, and the potential of the class of 2012 in the future.
Quotables:
On how the weekend went for he and his family...
"Oh man it was great, we loved it. I mean every time I've come to College Station its been amazing. I've been meeting some great people and I have always had a great time. That's why I committed. I loved it, it was good!"
In response to what his favorite part of the weekend was...
"It was the game. It was a great experience at Kyle Field in the stands. I mean the love and the passion that the Aggie Fans and the community of College Station has for the football team is just crazy. It gives you the chills at times. I love it, man!"
On whether the possible move of A&M to the SEC helped out in the final decision to commit...
"I mean yeah that helped out a bit, but it didn't really change much and wasn't too big of a factor. I mean even if they were still in the Big XII I would have still committed this weekend. It just makes it even better though ya know."
When asked if his commitment to A&M made recruiting was a done deal?
"It's a done deal for me, I'm an Aggie!"
On whether another reason he pulled the trigger was knowing that nearly the whole starting secondary consists of seniors and he could come in and play early...
"Yeah, for sure, that's another reason why I committed. It's a great situation for me and I know I will have a chance to come in early and prove myself and play."
On his relationship with Coach McMillan...
"Coach Rossley recruits me and he is great, but I have a great relationship with Coach McMillan and we talk a lot. When I told him I was going to commit he got a little emotional so I mean to feel that wanted and that welcome is crazy. I wanna be somewhere that I am wanted, and my parents do to. I am very happy."
And with Coach Sherman...
"Yeah, I talked to him and he was really excited too. I talked to all the coaches and Sherman last. They are all excited and so is my family and I."
In response to joining what could possibly end up being the best class that A&M has ever signed and his excitement level...
"Oh yeah, we are putting together a great class and with going to the SEC that is exactly what we need to do. I think we are putting together a class that is going to great things in the SEC. It is only going to get better as the year goes on."
In response to who stood out to him in the game...
"I would have to say Trent Hunter was really good and I think Dustin Harris is going to be in the NFL. I know they slipped up a little early on, but that got everything fixed and shut em down the rest of the game. I know they run an NFL type defense and that is not easy."
