Key notes from Acie Law IV interview

  • This was my first broadcast for the SEC Network and I am doing the game tomorrow as well. I watched four games of Corpus Christi and all the games of A&M to prepare for the broadcast. You have to familiarize yourself with the teams when you do things like this.

  • The front court is one of the best in the SEC and if not in the country.  With four guys over 6-9 it was just too much to overcome for Corpus Christi.  The big lineup has too much length.  Corpus Christi just didn’t know how to attack it and when you have Tonny, Tyler, and Robert out there, it is just too much length to handle.  It turns into easy buckets because it causes turnovers.

  • Coach Kennedy is just looking at his lineups and using what his players do the best.  He is using his team’s length, and when he does that it is dominant and turns into a lot of points.

  • The front court has NBA size.  It is rare to find teams that have that much size and length.  All the big guys are strong, athletic and can run.

  • Joseph Jones could extend out to the three point line which was a big asset.  We could run the pick and pop with him.  Tyler is just bigger and stronger than him.  They both have soft hands and can score, but they are just different players.  Joe could run and was a little more agile, but Tyler is further along at the same age.  He understands how to play his position and is a monster at that.

  • My mom called me crying when the Cubs won the World Series.  I was thinking about my Uncle Ernie (Banks) the whole team. I wish he could’ve been here to see it.  He loved the Cubs and everything about them.

  • I still think the point guard is a spot to be concerned about.  Teams are going to pressure those guys and force them to make plays.  They have been able to get by, but later in the season the coaches get paid to shut those guys down.

  • If you are not getting a lot of production from your point guard, you have to let your best players play.

  • DJ is showing signs of being a good player.  When you have an off-shooting night, you have to find way to still impact the team.  He is doing that and when you are 6-9 or 6-10, you can see over everyone.  He is using that to his advantage.
