College football helps those who help themselves. That's how the saying goes, right? Texas A&M handled its business in a blowout win over New Mexico State, perhaps with one eye on the scoreboard as other playoff hopefuls fell.

Big plays and key defensive stops were of great benefit to Texas A&M on Saturday.

The ninth-ranked Aggies actually had some of them in their game, too.

A&M’s offense posted a slew of explosive plays, the defense had a strong showing and Christian Kirk made school history with two punt returns for touchdowns in a 52-10 college football blowout of overmatched New Mexico State.
