Wylie G Peyton Little - 2012

Logan Lee: Take me through your commitment and de-commitment to Texas and then landing at Texas A&M.
Peyton Little:
"I committed at such a young age and never got the chance to visit other schools and see other programs, so after a lot of thinking and talking I felt that it was best that I de-commit and take some time to go look at these other schools and other programs to see what they have to offer. After all of that was said and done, A&M was my first option that I wanted to go see immediately. I love what A&M has to offer. The coaches are great and it is a great program."

LL: Who were some of the other schools that you were interested in?
Little:
"Oklahoma, Baylor, Texas Tech, Texas, Stanford, Maryland and UConn were all in the mix. We actually had plane tickets to go (to UConn) visit in June but we canceled all of that because I found what A&M is about. Those are the schools that I talked to and stayed in contact with throughout the process."

LL: How did you like your visit to Aggieland?
Little:
"My recruiting visit to A&M was awesome and so much fun. I have a lot of friends that go to A&M and I've heard all about the school in general, but I got to see the facilities and they are the top of the line. They are the best facilities that I have seen. And I love the tradition of the school and how much tradition is behind everything. It is a really cool school outside of basketball as well."

LL: Describe your relationship with your lead recruiter, Coach Schaefer.
Little:
"I love Coach Schaefer and all the coaches. Being able to learn from Coach Schaefer and him dealing with me through the recruiting process was and is going to be fun. A&M has been interested in me for a while and like I said, I kind of got caught up in the recruiting process early when I committed to Texas, but A&M has always been right there. I never gave them the opportunity in the beginning, but once I de-committed and starting talking to the coaches, Coach Schaefer and my relationship has really grown."

LL: How big of a role did winning the National Championship play in your decision?
Little:
"Them winning the National Championship was obviously a huge plus, but their program has been headed in the right direction for a while and now coming off a National Championship win is great. I just want to be a part of all of that by continuing to win Big 12 Championships and National Championships. My future is bright at A&M and I want to be a part of something like that. We're going to do big things and continue to carry on the tradition that they have established."

LL: Can you pin point the biggest factor for committing to A&M?
Little:
"Honestly, there isn't one reason for coming to A&M, but there are multiple reasons. I love the coaching staff and that's really important to me. I'm very close to my family and having a good relationship with the coaches and the players is like a home away from home. It felt like this was my second home and that really made it an easy decision."

LL: How did your parents and family react to your decision?
Little:
"Everybody back home wants what's best for me. There are a lot of Aggies up here and they want me to be happy. Obviously my dad played at Tech and there was some of him wanting me to go there, but he wants what's best for me. My parents are behind me 100% and my dad was actually the first one to say that he loves Coach Blair and Coach Schaefer. They are really excited for me."

LL: What was it like to wake up the day after you committed to A&M, knowing you are an Aggie?
Little:
"Seriously, it was the best feeling ever. The whole time I was ready for the recruiting process to be over with and I'm relieved that I made my decision and I'm an Aggie. I can't wait to get to College Station and be a part of what they have to offer."

LL: What are you looking forward to the most about playing for the Aggies?
Little:
"Winning Big 12 Championships and National Championships. I think there are more of those to come."

LL: When you evaluate yourself, what do you think you need to improve before you get to campus?
Little:
"My defense is the main thing. Coach Schaefer is defensive minded and A&M pressures the ball like crazy and they get up in people's faces. I have to get ready for that style of play to get me ready for the next level."
