C.E. King RB Trayveon Williams commits to Texas A&M
Entering South Carolina weekend, the Texas A&M Football staff knew it would take a home-run experience for 2016 C.E. King RB Trayveon Williams — in Aggieland on his official visit — to flip his commitment.
That's exactly what he got, and a week and a half later, more or less what he did.
Following a visit he enthusiastically described as an eye-opener and a week of ruminating on his decision, Williams rescinded his verbal pledge to TCU. On Thursday he made the call to Kevin Sumlin to inform him that he was committing to the Aggies.
A&M had been in search of one more running back to pair with Stratford's Rakeem Boyd in the 2016 recruiting class. The 5-9, 186-pound Williams remained one of the staff's top targets even after he picked the Horned Frogs over the Aggies in a close decision, and his addition will give A&M a home run threat to work into the offense.
Williams also held offers from Texas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Arizona State and others prior to his original commitment.
With Williams following less than a week after the commitment of Trophy Club OL Kellen Diesch on Sunday, the Aggies now hold 17 pledges in the 2016 class.
