Here are weekly thoughts, observations, rankings and wondering whether Alabama running back Derrick Henry or the Texas Longhorns will score more touchdowns this college football season.

Heisman leaders

If my Heisman Trophy ballot was due today I’d take:

1. Ezekiel Elliott, Ohio State, RB: Anticipating a big game from Elliott against Virginia Tech Monday night. Why not? Elliott exceeded 200 rushing yards in each of the Buckeyes’ final three games last season — vs. Wisconsin, Alabama and Oregon. A 2,000-yard season is a distinct possibility.
