Hoover, Ala. — Keeping the quarterback on his feet is important. So is knocking linebackers on their ass.
Texas A&M’s offensive line has been proficient at keeping quarterbacks upright, but it run blocking has too often been upsetting.
Fair or not, the Aggies have a growing reputation as finesse blockers that cannot pick up tough yardage. Even center Mike Matthews admitted the Aggies were softer than they should have been last season.
That has to change. A&M needs a kick-ass offensive line with a bad-ass attitude. They need blockers that will push defenders back, push them down and even push the limits of good sportsmanship.
