Michael Young asserts A&M's importance, flexible vision in introduction

New Texas A&M University president Dr. Michael K. Young on Monday discussed his decision to leave the University of Washington and his vision for A&M’s future while also demonstrating a sharp sense of humor.

Chancellor John Sharp introduced Young as the sole finalist for the president position in a press conference at Rudder Tower.

“He is, as you know, one of the elite (university) presidents in the U.S.,” Sharp said. “We are fortunate to have him here.”

Young said the feeling was mutual.
