The Latest: 2016 Silsbee OT Patrick Hudson

Texas A&M would've been hard pressed to jump out the gates any stronger than after the 6-5, 335-pound Silsbee OT wasted no time becoming A&M's first commitment for 2016. As soon as he visited campus with both his mother and coach, Hudson quickly prioritized tracking down a happy Kevin Sumlin.

With two older brothers in the 6-7 range, Hudson's coaching staff doesn't think he's close to finished growing. Patrick, who hasn't been 16 for too long, already wears a size 17 shoe. He has liked A&M for a long time and looks forward to continuing the impressive pipeline of A&M tackles going in the first round when his time comes.

A very humble kid who's incredibly quick for his size, the potential franchise left tackle told me he hopes Greg Little will join him and form an incredible set of bookend OTs.

On how long he knew he wanted to be an Aggie...
"I knew right when we walked the up to the stadium. It also confirmed how I knew I wanted to be an Aggie for a long time now — since I was real young, actually."

On what stood out to him most growing up...
"Just their vibe and their traditions. Especially as the athletic program as well as the football side. The education side makes sure you can graduate on time if you want to. I don't know what I 'll major in yet."

On what he's working on to improve before next season...
"Getting bigger, stronger, and faster."

On his coaches saying he could run right around a 5.0 flat forty...
"I'm 6-5, 330 right now, but it's true."

On what he does best at his position at this stage...
"I feel like I'm a better run blocker than pass blocker right now."

On what sticks out in his run blocking...
"Technique. I think I'm advanced in the run game early on as a devastating blocker."

On being as rock solid to A&M as he sounds...
"Yes sir. I can't say I'm even focusing on other schools because A&M is the only one I'm focusing on."

On other schools still recruiting him...
"It's really not been that many because everyone knows I'm solid here. Baylor is actually the only other school lately trying to get my attention."

On his mother's opinion of A&M...
"She was the most excited out of everyone and wanted me to commit before I could even get out of the car. She loves the education program there as well."

On their initial impression of Sumlin...
"She was so happy about it. My first impression was just that he was a nice coach, and then we spoke more and I didn't realize how humble and down to earth he is."

On Aggie OL coach B.J. Anderson...
"He really wants to get you where you want to go as a player, but he's more concerned into turning you into a man, which seemed to just get better for us as my mom and I want a position coach like that."

On his summer plans...
"Just work out and go to a couple camps. I'll continue working on pass blocking and improve in every area as much as I can."

On where he intends to trip...
"For sure A&M. It's still nice to work out at different camps as well, but I'm sold on A&M all the way. My coach also really likes A&M and he's glad I'm going to play there."

On staying in contact with the Aggie staff...
"Since I've committed, yes. Probably every three weeks or so Coach Price and I will talk."

On any other 2016 guys he wants to join him in College Station...
"Maybe Greg Little. I know he's really good and I'd love to play with him."

On what weight he wants to be at before arriving at A&M...
"Probably around 315. I'll end up getting a trainer as well."
