One of the first lessons of following college football recruiting is to expect the unexpected.
Aggies should have learned that lesson back in 1986 when star running back Harvey Williams of nearby Hempstead had given so many indications he’d attend Texas A&M that classmates whistled the War Hymn as he walked the halls toward the principal’s office to sign his letter-of-intent.
At the last second Williams changed his mind, signed with LSU and was thus labeled: “The Louisiana Purchase.
