Thoughts from Thursday
FRIDAY MORNING UPDATE: I just talked to Skyline head coach Derrick Roberson and he said Kane Bradford is 6-5, and about 280. My jaw hit the floor. Bradford looks lean with long arms so I asked him where all that weight was. Coach Rob said that he is rock solid and looks the same when his pads are off as he does with them on. This guy passes the eyeball test and is an athletic big man. Once he learns the game I could see things taking off for him. Right now he's a project but he has potential to be a top 50 or higher recruit when it's all done******Tonight I saw two of the top up and coming playmakers in Texas in 2019 Velton Gardner and 2020 EJ Smith Let's start with EJ. He played RB, WR, CB, S, KR, PR tonight and he had 2 rushing TDs and the game sealing INT. We have him rated as an ATH and I think he'll end up being recruited more as a WR than an RB. He holds an offer from SMU. He's keeping his options open early. There is a tie to A&M with his sister in College Station. He said he has not heard much from the Aggies yet, but he liked what he saw when they took his sister up to school.****Gardner stuck at QB for Skyline. He's a threat to throw, but his wheels are what makes him special. He is small but he has a stout build and he is quick. Tonight he had back to back TD runs of 55 and 47 yards. Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Syracuse ar among those who have offered early.*****I thought LB Kamryn Farrar had a strong night. He's a bit on the small side but he's a S/LB hybrid type. He had to of had double digit tackles and as someone on the sideline put it "he'll knock the meat out of your taco" *****Skyline also had a couple of intriguing 2019 DLs. Kane Bradford is listed as a 6-6, 270 DT. I don't see 270, more like 240, but he has a long wingspan, a good get off and flexibility. He's raw and in his first year of football. He played DE tonight and he'll attract attention this fall. DT VonKeith Smith also looks the part at 6-3, 290. Smith spent his night at DT

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

99-100: Elite national prospect (Five-star)

Considered one of the best prospects in the nation and a likely difference-maker at the collegiate level. Displays all of the physical skills to be a future All-American with potential to be an early-round NFL draft pick.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

80-89: Quality prospect (Three-star)

Considered one of the best 100 prospects in the state and a top 500 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to develop into a contributor over the course of his college career. Has the ability to become a professional prospect over time with development.

70-79: Solid prospect (Two-star)

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
