Recruiting notes and quotes - Tuesday morning
- I spoke with 2021 Bellaire Episcopal OL Cullen Montgomery who received an offer from the Aggies over the weekend. The 6-5, 320 pounder holds offers from Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, among many others. Here's what he had to say about the Ags offering..."I was excited about the offer because I feel that Jimbo is a great coach, and I would love to play with Coach Henson.""Coach Fisher was the one that offered me. He said he really liked the way I used my hips, that my punch is nice, and that I have a focus like no other.""Yes, I grew up liking A&M. I just love the game day tradition and the energy around the stadium.""More visits? Not that I know of, but I will probably be checking some schools out soon."- Aldine MacArthur CB Josh Eaton will camp in College Station this week as will 2021 Clear Lake CB Mark Wilson and 2022 Port Arthur Memorial corner Jaylon Guilbeau. Guilbeau has the look of an early offer type of kid. - 2021 A&M Consolidated DE/LB Vince Sheffield is starting to gain some momentum after big performances at SMU and TCU camps last week. He measured in at just over 6 foot and 225 pounds and ran sub 4.7 in his forty. He's played nothing but DE for Consol, but his body type projects as a linebacker. A&M is interested. - Be on the lookout for some high profile visitors heading into town this weekend in the defensive backfield. I know that College of San Mateo (CA) CB Alton Julien is likely, and we are hearing a couple of highly touted out of staters could be making an appearance, as well. We'll stay on top of that and update it when we can.

A few Friday recruiting notes
-- New name to watch in east Texas is Kitan Crawford out of Tyler John Tyler. The 5-11, 180 pound corner prospect has had a nice 2019 in terms of offers. I was told he's been speaking with Mo Linguist quite a bit lately. He's got offers from Texas, Tennessee, Arkansas, Baylor, Kansas St, and a host of other smaller schools. -- Be on the lookout for top WR target Troy Omeire to make his way to campus in early April. -- I caught up with A&M Consolidated WR Devin Price yesterday for a bit. He watched A&M practice on Wednesday and recently returned from a trip to Arizona. He said Tuscon was cool and laid back, but he didn't know if he'd be making a return trip. He was also unsure of what other visits he would take this spring. TCU has been in and out of Consol quite a bit as has Oklahoma. Devin said he was really impressed with the A&M quarterbacks on Wednesday and even mentioned Zach Calzada standing out in the action he watched. He wants to make a commitment this summer. He talks to Dameyune Craig often throughout the week. -- Staying at Consol, there's another underclass prospect emerging for Coach Fedora. 2021 LB Vince Sheffield was also in attendance on Wednesday to watch the Aggies practice. Sheffield plays DE in high school, but his measurables are going to project really well at linebacker. This week, he told me he measured in at 6-1, 230 pounds and ran 4.7 in the forty. He'll camp across town at A&M this summer. -- 2021 Katy Taylor OL Hayden Conner did make it in to town and is out at Kyle Field watching the Aggies practice. A&M DL Max Wright (a Katy Taylor alum) has been working on Conner this week. I'll have some quotes from Hayden once he finishes up his day. -- Despite Clear Creek OL Chad Lindberg rescheduling his visit, I've actually heard fairly good reports about he and his family's relationship with Josh Henson. I expect to see Chad on campus at some point this spring. -- Something to note with this weekend's visitors: St John Bosco (CA) S/LB Kourt Williams II coming in to visit makes it back to back weeks with a high profile out of state backer on campus for Bradley Dale Peveto. I think we'll see that trend continue throughout the spring and summer. Peveto is casting a wide net, and he's been able to get some big time players to campus already.

TexAgs National Average Rating

The TexAgs National Average Rating is a proprietary formula that calculates an industry-wide aggregate rating for each recruiting prospect. The formula includes publicly listed grades, scores, ratings and rankings by national recruiting services, along with a TexAgs rating. Combining the data provides a rating for each prospect, which is then normalized to fit the TexAgs Rating 100-point scale.

The intent of this rating is to provide TexAgs readers with a comprehensive snapshot of how individual prospects rank nationally.

TexAgs Rating

The TexAgs Recruiting team of Billy Liucci, David Sandhop, Jason Howell, Ryan Brauninger and a host of recruiting interns attends more than 75 games each fall and observes and evaluates every major Texas A&M target, as well as most of the top 150 prospects in the State of Texas. From this evaluation the team draws a rating for each prospect on a scale between 70 and 100.

90-98: Elite state prospect (Four-star)

Considered one of the best 30-40 prospects in the state and a top 250 national prospect. Displays the physical skills to be a major early contributor at the collegiate level with high professional potential.

Staff Predictions

The predictions represent which school each staff member believes will ultimately sign the recruit, and the confidence meter represents his level of certainty in that outcome.

Example #1

If the predicted school is Texas A&M and confidence is set to “High”, then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Texas A&M and I feel very certain about that.”

Example #2

If the predicted school is “Alabama” and confidence is set to “Low,” then the staff member is saying “I believe that this recruit will ultimately sign with Alabama, but I’m not very certain about that.”
