The morning took me to Lake Dallas and there are more than a few young talents to watch on their way.Without a doubt, Lake Dallas 2020 QB/ATH Drew Sanders is a must know prospect in the area. He has played receiver and linebacker in addition to working at quarterback and at 6-foot-5 and 210 pounds he consistently runs the forty in the 4.5 range. In 2016, he completed 23 of 51 passes for 392 yards, 2 TDs, and 3 INTs; rushed for 77 carries for 438 yards and 8 TDs; caught two passes for 21 yards; and recorded 22 tackles, 4 TFLs, a fumble recovery, and a QB hurry on his way to second-team all-district honors. The recruiting attention has yet to take off, but look for that to change as coaches get a look at Sanders in the spring. His frame still has plenty of room for growth and he will compete for the starting quarterback job with Ryan Depperschmidt at Lake Dallas. Sanders moved into the area from Oregon, and grew up a fan of Washington. He attended games at Texas A&M and TCU in the fall and this summer he is looking at camps at Texas A&M, TCU, SMU, and Texas.http://www.hudl.com/video/3/8261385/58bc5b01bee0b5332c3dcd71I mentioned Ryan Depperschmidt above, and the 2019 prospect has plenty of ability of his own. Like Sanders, coaches believe he will be hard to keep off the field whether it is at QB or somewhere else. Where might that somewhere be? Well, safety seems to be a good spot to watch.Depperschmidt is 6-2 and 170-pounds and he is also a standout on the baseball field where he is a pitcher and a centerfielder. As a sophomore in 2016, he completed 48 of 77 passes for 698 yards, 8 TDs, and 2 INTs; rushed for 123 yards and 2 TDs on 66 carries; and recorded 23 tackles, 1 TFL, an INT, and a forced fumble.Lake Dallas' 2019 class has quite a few prospects to watch. One of the more intriguing prospects is offensive lineman Hayden Brockenbush. He checks in at 6-foot-4.5 and 215-pounds, and recently clocked a 4.8 in the forty. Sure he needs to add weight, but he has plenty of room for weight on his frame, and is noted for his explosive play. Roberson recorded 20 tackles, 4 TFLs, 1 sack, 3 QB hurries, an INT, and a fumble recovery in 2016, and he plans to camp at Oklahoma, TCU, and SMU this summer. Minor is the son of former Oregon State running back and Washington Redskin Darryl Minor, and earned honorable mention all-district honors as a sophomore.The list does not stop there. 2018 WR Charles Williams (5-11, 185) is drawing attention from Tulsa and UNT, 2018 DT Zalen Long (6-0, 320) is hearing from Northwestern St., Ky'lee Smith (5-9, 170) is a 2019 running back with ties to Oklahoma State, Telanio Evans (6-1, 205) is drawing attention at d-end, and 2020 WR Brandon Engel Brandon Engel (6-2, 185) runs the 4x400 and the 300m hurdles. ***********This afternoon took me to Denton Ryan, and just in case anyone has forgotten, Denton Ryan is in really good hands. There really was not much Texas A&M news to be had at Ryan but I wanted to check out a few guys. Oklahoma State QB commit Spencer Sanders is back from his ACL injury and it does not look like he has skipped a beat. And his favorite target, Texas Tech wide receiver commit Gabe Douglas, is back and looks like his normally ridiculous self.https://twitter.com/Jason_Howell/status/852260006879780865Douglas will draw much of the attention, but wide receiver Tauskie Dove, who was not at practice today because of a track meet, will attract plenty of attention this spring. The 6-3, 200-pound playmaker already holds a UNT offer and today added Arkansas State. North Texas and SMU have both offered, and he will be tested regularly in practice against Douglas.Cornerback Tamar Butts (5-9, 160) and offensive lineman Carson Shelton (6-4, 280) are two other prospects to watch at Ryan.Defensive tackle Dayton Lablanc has moved to Kentucky with his father who accepted a coaching job at Kentucky after a year at UNT.
